Q:- Is mental retardation a disease?

Q:- Can medicine/drugs cure mental retardation?

A:-

• Mental retardation is irreversible.
• Medicine can not cure it.

Q:- Can we detect during pregnancy if there is something wrong with the baby?

A:- Several methods are now is use with pregnant mother to obtain information about the present Like Amniocentesis, fetal blood sampling and ultrasonography etc.

Q:- Can a normal baby become mentally retarded after birth?

A:- Yes, it can happen due to injury to brain due to accident, severe malnutrition in early childhood repeated episodes of epileptic.

A:- No, they are not mad Mental Retardation is a condition which generally leads to a handicap

प्र. क्या हमारे बच्चे का व्यवहार हमेशा ऐसा ही रहेगा?

उ. हमें बच्चे की मानसिक क्षमताओं कप ध्यान में रखते हुए उसके व्यवहार का कारण जानने की चेष्टा करनी चाहिए। इसके द्वारा ही बच्चे के व्यवहार में बदलाव लाना संभव है।

प्र. क्या बच्चा भविष्य में अपने लायक हो सकता है?

उ. संभव है! लेकिन ज्यादातर बच्चों को सहारे की आवश्यकता रहती है क्योंकि वे जिंदगी के फैसले स्वयं लेने में बहुधा उतने सक्षम नहीं होते।

प्र. क्या बच्चे को स्कूल भेजने की जगह घर पर थेरेपी देना ज्यादा लाभकर नहीं है?

उ. नहीं ये बच्चे ग्रुप में जल्दी सीखते हैं तथा एक दूसरे को सहारा देते हैं।

प्र. क्यहमारे बच्चे का व्यवहार साथी दिव्यंग बच्चों के साथ रहकर और खराब तो नहीं हो जाएगा?

उ. संप्रत्येक बच्चे के उपयुक्त व्यवहार का उसका अपना कारण होता है स्पेशल टीचर एवं थेरपिस्ट की टीम उस कारण का पता लगाकर बच्चे के व्यवहार में सुधार लाने का प्रयास करते हैं।

प्र. क्ययदि पहले बच्चे मे प्रॉबलम है तो क्या दूसरे बच्चे में भी मानसिक विकास बाधित होने की संभावना होती है?

उ. यदि पहले बच्चे में मानसिक विकास बाधित होने का कारण जिनेटिक (वंशानुगत) है तो दूसरे बच्चे में संभावना हो सकती है। ऐसे माता पिता को जिनेटिक टेस्टिंग एवं कौनसेलिंग करानी चाहिए।
